New Year's Traditions

Eat, Drink, and Be Healthy, Wealthy, and Lucky!

New Year's Day brings a great Southern tradition to tables across America.  It's a simple and healthy meal, and it goes something like this...  Eat your blackeyed peas to bring you good luck thoroughout the year, eat collard or turnip greens to grant you lots of MONEY, and add in a little hog jawls for good health.  ( I subsititute pork chops for hog jawls; it seems to work just as well!)

This tradition has been served at my table for as many years as I can remember.  I think I will eat an extra heaping of the greens, just for financial security!!

What about you... what are your traditions?
