Envelope Gifts
Here are some fun recipes to make special envelopes to put cards, gifts and thank yous in:)
Recipe 4 Wallpaper Envelopes
What You Need
Outdated wallpaper sample books
Small mailing envelope
Cereal box cardboard
Pencil
Scissors
Glue
How To Make It
Go to your local wallpaper store and ask for outdated wallpaper sample books - they are free. Take a small mailing envelope and carefully pull the glued edges apart so you have a pattern. Trace the envelope on a piece of cardboard (cereal boxes work good) so that you have a durable pattern. Place your cardboard pattern on the wallpaper and trace. Cut out, fold and glue. You have a beautiful, usable envelope.
Recipe 4 Making Confetti Envelopes
Take a sheet of cold laminate (or clear contact paper) and peel off the backing. Sprinkle confetti, glitter, dried flowers, whatever you want. Use lots of stuff, it looks cool. Cover the whole thing with plastic wrap. Try different color plastic wrap for different effects. Pop any air bubbles with an xacto knife. Trace an envelope pattern, cut, fold and glue. You CAN mail these just use the postage stamp stickers. Everyone will oooooh and aaaaah. It doesn't matter how much confetti you use. Put the address on when you're done with an Avery label. Don't cut the contact paper until you're done! Make a big sheet of confettied contact paper and then cut out your envelope shape. You want the plastic wrap to wrinkle that's what gives it the water look.
Recipe 4 Tissue Paper Envelopes
OK, here we go - you need freezer paper and tissue paper. Crumple up the tissue tightly (old tissue from gifts you've been given are great
for this),then carefully unfold. Place the freezer paper shiny side up on a flat surface (ironing board works fine since you're about to
iron this paper!). Then place the crumpled tissue over the freezer paper, it helps to paper clip the sides to hold it in place, then
carefully, with a low setting iron, press down on the tissue in a few places to anchor it at first, then all over so that the tissue
is 'glued' to the freezer paper (the shiny side acts as glue!). And, viola, the neatest paper to use as envelopes or for card decorations,
bags, you name it! Experiment using different colors of tissue, and putting confetti between the freezer paper and tissue before you
iron it.
A different effect is achieved without crumpling the tissue, also I've heard you can use aluminum foil but I've not tried this yet (but
I will!). Another friend tried this, and used silver confetti between crumpled white tissue paper and the freezer paper and it was
absolutely stunning. Perfect for weddings or anniversaries! So go have fun!!!
