Tired Of Being Tired?

by Darlene Zagata

I've been feeling totally exhausted recently so I decided that its time to change my routine and boost my energy. Ten Steps to Boost Your Energy

Step 1.

The first thing on the agenda is to get more sleep. Most people require six to eight hours of sleep a night. I was only averaging a couple of hours of sleep per day which is not at all healthy.

Step 2.

I needed to stick to my exercise routine. Regular exercise helps relieve stress and increasing your energy level. If you have a regular exercise routine, stick to it. If not consider developing one. Check with your physician before starting an exercise plan.

Step 3.

We have to remember to eat properly. All too often, I find myself neglecting my eating habits. Proper nutrition is a must. We need to eat three healthy meals a day. Remember to eat a diet which provides you with the proper amount of carbohydrates and proteins.

Step 4.

Cut down on your smoking if you are a smoker. Better yet, quit. Although I am a smoker, I encourage you to stop smoking if you can. I'm working on this myself and I know that it is easier said than done. I have quit smoking before but my willpower failed me and I started again. Dumb, huh? I know. Smoking is unhealthy. It depletes your oxygen and can cause fatigue.

Step 5.

Try meditation which uses deep breathing exercises. This is an excellent way to calm the mind and refresh the body. Try doing the meditation for at least 15 minutes a day.

Step 6.

Sometimes we just take on more than we can handle. Is it hard for you to say no to family and friends? This is certainly one of my biggest hangups. I hate to say no but sometimes it is necessary for your own well being. It is not always easy to keep up with the demands made on us in our daily lives. There may be times when even though our minds say yes, our bodies may be crying no. We need to limit the amount of demands that we can meet realistically.

Step 7.

Being in a stressful situation is exhausting. If there is too much stress in your life, try to find ways to eliminate the stress, or at least alleviate it.

Step 8.

Music can be a real energizer. Really, it can be. Certain forms of music can produce calming, soothing effects which in turn, make you feel better and boost your energy.

Step 9.

Aromatherapy is another great way to relax and reinvigorate your body and your senses. Use rich scented bath oils and bubble baths to refresh and invigorate. There are a variety of therapeutic aides such as incense, body lotions, and candles. Use in combinations that work well for you.

Step 10.

Change the way you think. Instead of concentrating on how tired you are all the time, start affirming the opposite. Meditate on thoughts such as these:

"I am healthy." "I am energetic." "I am filled with vigor and vitality." "I am calm and relaxed."

It may sound silly, but it really does make a difference.

This little routine has given me some of my energy back and I don't feel as drained as I had been feeling. I hope it helps you as well. Most of all remember to take time out to take care of you.
