Pregnancy Leg Cramps

I have a lot of problems with tight calf muscles which leads to shin splints and bone spurs, etc. NOT to mention those middle-of-the-night leg cramps that wake you with a fierce attack! To help with these problems, I stretch my calf muscles a LOT! I keep a stretch band (the workout type) beside my bed so that I can do calf flexes before I ever get out of bed in the morning. This is a good way to wake up slowly to help ward off the morning sickness.

leg cramps

One thing that helped me deal with my leg cramps during my 3 pregnancies was to have a banana every day or close to. If I skipped several days they would return. I am told the potassium in them is what helps, but not for sure.
