It Can Wait
I used to come home from work (after picking up my 2 young boys and running any errands, or going to any sporting events) and directly go in to the kitchen to start cooking and cleaning. I was always in such a rush to get dinner and cleaning and baths out of the way that I always felt stressed out. My children were always very "fussy" during this cooking and cleaning time which didn't help any of the stress. I decided to try something new. When I get home, I take a few minutes to sit with the kids, set up any homework or projects, and just talk with them for a while before I dive into the chores. I have found that they are much less "fussy" after they have had my attention for a little while. Needless to say things do not go smoothly every night. The cooking and cleaning must get done, but I have learned that many things can wait and I feel better and so does my family!
