Parenting Tips

As you snuggle up with someone you love or alone with your thoughts, I hope you ponder all the good stuff in your life today... and say, "Thank You."
Set expectations and follow through. Whether rewards or consequences. Be consistent
It's my belief that as individuals, moving ourselves outside our comfort zone is imperative to experiencing a truly rewarding life on earth. Yet it has occurred to me that when we become parents, we take on a similar responsibility for other humans as well.
I got tired of arguing with my kids every time I asked them to help me set the dinner table. One day I decided to make place cards for everyone in the family. Now, whoever sets the table also sets out the cards, and decides who gets to sit where. Since then I've had plenty of help.

Adopting a child can be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life. However for adoption beginners, the adoption process can seem overwhelmingly complicated, time consuming, and frustrating--especially if you are eager to get started. This factsheet provides some basic information about possible adoption alternatives and is designed to give you an understanding of the adoption process
DEAR DR.PAUL: My four-year-old daughter has some bumps on her neck. I brought her to the doctor who told me they were lymph nodes and it was normal. I am still worried. Can these bumps or nodes be serious?
Q: * My 5 month-old moves her bowels approximately every three days, is this normal? * Is it normal for my 3 month-old to have bowel movements after every feeding? * My 3 month-old baby has had severe constipation for 2 days. She is in absolute agony when she tires to have a bowel movement. What can I give her to make things come back to normal?
As the years go by, it seems to become more and common for parents to be expected to give gifts to their children's teachers at school. For many families, there's a fine line between showing appreciation and going broke. Finding just the right gift -- at just the right price -- can be challenging at best. And besides, how many apple-decorated key hains or coffee mugs can one teacher use?
When ripped up jeans are just the thing your daughter is drooling over, but the miserly mom in you says "i'm not paying THAT much for jeans with holes in them", there is a way to make both of you happy! Buy some bargain jeans and convert them into cool jeans yourself. You'll save money and your daughter will think you're all the rage.
This is a fun mother/daughter project.
