Avoid diaper rash altogether
My first child had real trouble with diaper rash. It wasn't until I had my second child and stopped using babywipes that I realised what the cause was. Those wipes (even ones claiming to be gentle) are harsh on a baby's sensitive skin and really not necessary. Just use a washcloth or kitchen wipe (even a tissue will work) wet with water and dry off with a cloth diaper. For extra protection, a little Zinc and castor oil creme (in use for centuries) will provide a barrier. Works perfectly and no rash whatsoever (saves a fortune too!)
