I bought several bins of a uniform size (found mine at Ikea for under $1 each). Each type of toy my kids play with has its own bin that it goes into. One for all the toy cars, one for all the Lincoln logs, etc. Most of the bins fit neatly lined up under the kids beds. The rest fit on the toy shelf. My kids are too young to read so I taped a picture (usually I cut it out from what ever box they originally came in) of the toy that goes into each bin on the bin. This makes cleaning up toys so easy that my 2 and 3 year olds can do it themselves with very minimal help from me.
