A jack-o-lantern named Woody
Do you have a woodpile in your front yard that you cant get rid of?Or just some little logs laying around?Well, put them to some good use!!
Paint the whole log orange.(should be a small log because only the tip will be showing...and the bigger it is...the heavier)Paint a jack-o-lantern face on the round part(the end)and display it anywhere!!
It is so much fun for the kids to do and so much safer than cutting a pumkin with a knife!

Activity Time
Make time each day for at LEAST one pre planned (by the child is most benefical) activity for the day, that gives them something to look foward to. (You can make up a calendar and let the child help fill in that special something each day that you will DO WITH THEM)

Baby at the Beach
When we take our baby to the beach we bring umbrellas for her to sit under and a pup tent for her to nap in (well aerated, of course.) For fun time, we bring an inflatable pool along with a device that helps infants sit up in the tub. We fill the pool and let the water warm up. Then she sits in and splashes away, kicks her feet and plays with toys. She's the envy of all the kids (and adults, too) on the beach.

Baby Food Jars
Wonder what to do with all those baby food jars? My family came up with some ways to use them. We lable/decorate them and use them for spare change, buttons, candy jars, we have even made beach scenes in them with sand. Makes great gifts for teachers or just anyone.

Beach Sand Tip
Take along a bottle of Talcum Powder when going on a beach outing with your kids. Simply apply it to their hands before they eat lunch and the sand falls right off so they can enjoy a "sandless" sandwich!

Birthday or Anytime Party Game
Using the largest strawberries you can find, have children bob for strawberries. I wash and hull the berries first. Then using my largest mixing bowl filled 3/4 full with water, I put the bowl on a towel on the floor, add 3-4 strawberries and let them go. Have small towels on hand for their faces also.
We have been doing this at my daughter's birthday parties since she was 2 - 9 years now!

bookmarks
This is a fun craft for the whole family!!
When we get our sons pictures taken we always get so many of those little mini pictures. We put them to good use by doing a craft with them.
I got a white posterboard. I let my two year old color the posterboard with crayons. We do this for each holiday. If for Christmas he uses green and red. Valentines day pink, purlpe, and red. We just let him color on it till he is done. It may take a few hours. If he gets bored, we put it away till a later time. When the poster board is done i cut it in even pieces to make nice sized bookmarks. We put one of the small pictures on each using glue. Then we put holiday stickers, and cutout shapes from construction paper. We write Merry Christmas, or Happy Valentines Day. At the bottom, we write love and my sons name. I help him write this so that he gets used to writting his name. It also shows that we didnt write it by ourselves. After all the glue is dry, take the bookmarks down and have them laminated. Use a whole punch to make a small hole in the top, and use yarn to make a tassle.
This is a great way to use those small pictures, or even wallet size. It is a special gift for anyone, and everytime they read a book, they have a special picture of the litte one they love write there.
My family loves them, and my son has a great time, putting things on them( upside down and hanging of the sides) :)

Bring Spring in Winter
I'm the mother of 2 and 1 year old girls, and they can't do much outside right now with snow taller than they are. So I went to the store and got marigold seeds (any flower small enough for indoors will work). Start the seeds sprouting on a wet paper towel (either with a tupperwear cover flipped upside down or in an inflated plastic bag) and if you can, keep the seeds warm. They will begin to sprout in a day or two. This gives the kids something a little more interesting to help you plant than a little seed. When they have sprouted enough have your toddlers help you plant them. Old butter containers with holes poked in the bottom work well if you don't have an extra planter. Then they can watch their plants grow, and bring a bit of color and spring indoors during the dreary winter months!

Carnival Night
Have a carnival night at your house. Do carnival food (corn dogs, nachos, hot pretzels, popcorn, cotton candy). Also have carnival type games that the family can play. Have kids make tickets and each food or game will need a certain amount of tickets. Enjoy!

Christmas surprise for next year
Each year I select several Christmas ornaments during the clearance season. I wrap them up in my scrap wrapping paper I saved during my holiday wrappings and label them for the kids to open. I then tuck them into the storage bins we keep our ornaments in (each child has his own, labeled and decorated by him.) Then, next Christmas when we go to decorate the tree, the kids have an early gift or two to open (how many times have they asked to open something early?), the tree gets a make-over, and Mom spent 50% or less for quality ornaments that the kids will enjoy as keepsakes when they move out and decorate their own trees!

When I send my kids out to play in the snow I give them both an assortment of spray bottles filled with water and food coloring (blue, red, yellow, or if it is aound christmas time, red and green!)They love the idea of "painting" the snow and it adds a lot of "color" to the winter doldrums!
