  • Bee Stings When I was a child, I came out of a back yard swimming pool and stepped on a bee in a patch of clover. My foot ballooned and the pain was excruciating. I remember crying my eyes out and wailing as the doctor removed the stinger from my swollen arch. His only comment was that if Mom had put compresses of cold Witch Hazel on the sting site, my foot would not have swelled so much. He then told Mom to continue to put refrigerated Witch Hazel on the sting site until both the pain and the swelling dissipated. Hope this tip is helpful to some poor soul of a child who is unfortunate enough to have a similar bee sting experience. • Bee stings and Ant bites Adolfs unseasoned meat tenderizer is the best to alleviate the sting of bees, wasps, and ants (which are a special classification of wasps btw). Just mix a small amount with water or saliva and rub it on the area of the bite or sting. Works wonders even for those who are allergic to them. • Best Diaper Rash Cream Use equal parts of: Aquaphor or Neosporin Corn Starch or baby powder Desitin or zinc oxide Mix together and it works overnight. I usually mix up about 2 Tbs of each of the three parts. Submitted By: Lori(Added: 30-Apr-2002 Hits: 0 Rating: 0 Votes: 0) Rate It

  • Bladder Infections If you have a bladder infection, mix a teaspoon of baking soda into a 4 ounce glass of water, and drink it. You should not drink this if you are very full from eating a lot, because baking soda expands in your tummy. So, first thing in the morning is the best time. It tastes kind of icky, but it really works! It is much more effective than cranberry juice. Submitted By: Tami Schoonmaker(Added: 5-Mar-2002 Hits: 0 Rating: 10.00 Votes: 1) Rate It

  • Boo Boo Bunny When you have a bump or scrape to take care of, tie a couple of ice cubes up in a white dish towel - the tied ends look like ears - and I call it a Boo Boo Bunny. Submitted By: Jennifer Hillenbrand(Added: 6-Dec-2003 Hits: 0 Rating: 0 Votes: 0) Rate It

  • booboo remedy here's an odd but good one. If your child falls and gets a bump on the forehead( or other body part), and won't let you apply ice: try a little toothpaste smoothed over the area. It helps reduce the swelling. Might sound strange but it does seem to work Submitted By: Diana Davis(Added: 23-May-2000 Hits: 0 Rating: 6.33 Votes: 3) Rate It

  • Bruise Control My house is never without witch hazel. It works miracles. For bruises, keep applying after injury for a couple of days. It helps reduce the pain and keeps the bruise from turning multiple colors! Bruises heal faster too. Submitted By: Mitzi Kenyon(Added: 14-Feb-2003 Hits: 0 Rating: 10.00 Votes: 1) Rate It

  • Bruises and black eyes As soon as your child or yourself for that matters hits or gets hit put some liquid vanilla essence (cooking vanilla) on the spot and you will never have a bruise show up! I have done this with my daugther and we pretend it is make-up so she enjoys it even more because she is now a grown-up! • Brushing our teeth When my children were younger I was concerned that they weren't brushing their teeth long enough. To make sure that they would brush longer, I would play a song from their favorite tape. I told them that I wanted them to brush until the song was over. This really worked, my youngest is 14 and she has never had a cavity. Submitted By: Antoinette(Added: 16-May-2002 Hits: 0 Rating: 0 Votes: 0) Rate It

  • Burn Relief Use the inside gel of a fresh leaf of Aloe Vera plant directly on burns (even sunburns!). Simply smear it over the affected area. It will relieve the pain instantly. Remember not to wash it off or the pain comes back. The sticky gel dries and you barely notice that it's there. • Chaped / Dry Skin? During the cold months my son gets a very chapped and dry nose, chin, and cheeks. I dab a little vasaline on the places that are bothering him before naps and bedtime and within a few days the areas are all better! • Cheap wipes I have found that if you run out of wipes, it is easy to make your own. I save the old wipe container and cut Bounty paper towels in half and place inside the container. I then add a mixture of Baby Magic bath soap and water to the towelettes. You may need to refresh every once in a while if the wipes get dry. This is a safe, good smelling, inexpensive way to make home made wipes. My children are all in school, but we still take these with us everywhere.
