Children's Bee Wasp Stings
During nice weather children often get stung. Mine have a tendency to get wasp stings from time to time, especially near swings and playground equipment.
When this happens I quickly run to my garden a rip off a leaf from my Hens N Chicks plant and apply the pulp to the sting. My children swear that it relieves the sting in a minute or so. Supposedly because of the plant's content of malic acid.

Chinese -American Holistic Remedy for a Winter Cold
I don't know about you but every winter, without fail, I come down with the sniffles and a nasty congestion cough. I have learned that if I put echinacea-golden seal (liquid form-10 drops) into a cup of hot tea for 10 days, my symptoms clear up. Also, to help open up a congested chest, I brew ginger root tea. I skin the ginger root and cut it up in to large chunks. I boil it for fifteen minutes and strain out the ginger root chunks. Afterwards, I drink the hot ginger strained water as a tea. I do this for as long as I have a chest congestion. (approximately 10 days) The taste of the ginger root tea is not great but the after effects are worth it.

Cinnamon for athlete's foot...
Steep 15 to 20 broken cinnamon sticks in 8 cups of boiling water. Remove the pot from the heat, and let the mixture steep for about an hour. Put this in a bucket and soak your feet for 15 minutes. Rinse feet when done. They'll smell great and athlete's foot is gone!

Cleaning Baby's New Teeth
Does your baby have a mouth full of new teeth, but is too young for toothbrushes and a dentist? Clear away all the sugars from juice and food by wiping their teeth and gums with a wet washcloth (room temperature). It gives them something to chew/suck on. To relieve teething pain, use cool (not cold) water.

Cold Sores Halt
As soon as you or someone you know feels a cold sore developing, put a small dad of Watkin's Carbolic salve on the spot. I am not a dealer but this works for me, stopping the cold sore from growing larger. Also read applying Lemon Balm effective but have not tried that.

Colds
For just a common cold---the itchy, scratchy sore throat mix some honey, lemon juice and a spice called thyme together and give one tablespoon as needed to help soothe a sore throat. Oh, and one other thing, mix to your liking.

colds/flu/sore throats
If you don't like tea when you are sick, try making fresh lemonade (not Kool aid) and warm it up and add honey. Helps your sore throat, tastes good and adds fluids to your diet. Kids like it too! My kids ask for it even when they aren't sick.

COOL OFF
I learned this from my Grandma. Within a ice chest keep moist wash cloths along with the ice cooled food and drinks. Boy! does that cloth over my head cool me off.

Cool Relief From Sun
When the weather is hot, I carry in my son's diaper bag a soft baby washcloth which I've rinsed in cold water and placed inside a Ziploc bag. I carry it with when we go on walks or to park playdates. I wipe his face with the cloth periodically to refresh him. It makes for a much happier, cooler baby!

Cradle Cap Solution
My son has some lingering cradle cap. To help the dry flakiness, I put baby oil in his hair about 15 minutes before his bath. Then in the bath, I shampoo his hair using one of those "body scrubbing" gloves that help to exfoliate the skin. It works great!

Curing Those Darn Hiccups!
This is my tried and true solution for those annoying hiccups for both parent and child . . . Relax the child (or adult) in a comfortable chair. Take one teaspoon of granulated sugar and tell the victim (ha!) to open their mouth and let them know you will gently be placing the spoonful of sugar on top of their tongue inside their mouth in order to cure their hiccups. Ask the hiccuping loved one to close their mouth around the spoon and you will slowly pull the spoon out of their mouth as the sugar is deposited inside. Tell them not to open their mouth or swallow until all the sugar has disolved on its own. It works like magic! I hope this helps! P.S. Be sure you do not use this tip if a person has a health concern such as diabetes.
