  • Dehydration When suffering from dehydration, I take a litre of water, add 1 tbsp of sugar and 1 tsp of salt. Then mix thoroughly and you have a home made IV solution! It works just like pedialite for children. Works for adults alike. Submitted By: catherine jorgensen(Added: 4-Apr-2002 Hits: 0 Rating: 10.00 Votes: 1) Rate It

  • Diaper Rash A dr. told me several years ago that I didn't need to spend loads on diaper rash remedies. He suggested I use Milk of Magnesia at one diaper change and then pertroleum jelly at the next and continue to alternate until rash is gone. It works great! I have 6 children. • Diaper Rash There is a wonderful product that most Drug Stores carry called BAG BALM. It was made in 1899, it has been the farmer's friend for many years. They would use it on their animals for chapped conditions and superficial abrasions. I know it sounds weird using a product that a farmer uses on their animals, but it really works. It comes in a big green square tin can. They also make a cute small can too that fits perfectly in the diaper bag. Submitted By: Patty(Added: 27-Mar-2005 Hits: 0 Rating: 10.00 Votes: 2) Rate It

  • Dishwasher Sterilizing If you have dishwasher safe toys (the back of the package will have told you if it is or not) but they're too small to put in the racks, go out and buy a cheap pair of pantyhose (don't use pre-worn pantyhose). Simply put all the toys into the mesh hose and throw in the dishwasher! It keeps them all together so they don't go floating away and get stuck in the machine. • Ear Ache Wwarm some white wine and with an eye dropper, drop a few drops into the ear. Submitted By: R. Elaine Segal(Added: 23-Apr-2002 Hits: 0 Rating: 0 Votes: 0) Rate It

  • Ear Ache For ear infections and an instant fix, I drop 3 to 4 drops of rubbing alcohol and let it run down the ear canal. It stops the pain instantly! Works every time on my children and I have 3 small ones. Submitted By: valerie brown(Added: 15-Jan-2007 Hits: 0 Rating: 0 Votes: 0) Rate It

  • Ear Ache Relief If you put a drop or 2 of rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and place alcohol side in facing the ear canal. Hold small child's or baby's achy ear against you or lay ear ache side down on bed. In a few minutes baby or small child will stop hurting. With older children, have them lay with their ear on a heating pad. This will get you through a night or weekend until you can take the child to the doctor and will save an emergency room visit. • Earaches If your child is having an earache in the middle of night, micowave a potato until it gets hot (about 10 min. on high) and stuff it into a thick sock. Test it to make sure it isn't too hot. Put it next to his ear to help relieve the pain. Submitted By: MsJudy(Added: 23-Feb-2001 Hits: 0 Rating: 0 Votes: 0) Rate It

  • Ease a sore throat quickly If you or your older children have a sore throat just use this tip to ease the rawness and tenderness in your throat. Take original Mylanta liquid Then take Benedryl liquid and measure equal parts of each in a cup or glass and gargle with it a few times. Don't swa;;ow, just gargle. It acts as a natural numbing agent. You can even take a Q-Tip dipped in this mixture and dab it on cold sores and mosquito bites. This is truly a miracle mixture. Feel better. • Eczema If your child is having problems with eczema or atopic dermatitis, use crisco applied to the affected area 3 times a day. Sounds crazy, but it worked wonders on my daughter. Submitted By: Sandra(Added: 15-May-2002 Hits: 0 Rating: 0 Votes: 0) Rate It

  • Eczema Help If you or you little one suffer from scaley eczema or psoriasis a more natural approach then using cortizone creams is good old fashioned Noxzema Skin cream, it soothes the itch and helps heal the skin. Strange but it works for many. Submitted By: Carmen Shannon(Added: 10-Apr-2002 Hits: 0 Rating: 5.50 Votes: 2) Rate It

  • Excema My five year old daughter has been battling Excema from birth. I have tried anything and everything. From home remeidies, over the counter products and prescription cremes. The only two things that I have found that help are (1) have your child bathe in any tar shampoo such as T-Gel for twenty minutes three times a week (2) try noxema, Noxema was first made for excema hince the name no exema. I wash my daughter in it just like soap. Just lather her up with it and rinse it off. It works great. Submitted By: Michelle(Added: 15-Sep-2002 Hits: 0 Rating: 10.00 Votes: 1) Rate It

  • Fight eye infections Another good use for breast milk. If you child or baby has an eye infection. Use some breast milk instead on antibiotics. Breast milk already has the antibodies in it to fight the infection. This can also be done with frozen milk just make sure to thaw it out first. • Fluoride - Don't Use It Fluoridated water should never be used for preparing infant formulas and foods. See: "Avoid Feeding Infants Fluoridated Water," http://www.fluoridealert.org/news/1866.html Also fluoride supplements are useless and harmful. See: "Fluoride Supplements" on Dr. Jay Gordon's website http://www.drjaygordon.com/pediatricks/fluoridesupp.htm Submitted By: nyscof(Added: 26-Mar-2005 Hits: 0 Rating: 0 Votes: 0) Rate It

  • For stuffed noses When your child has a cold and a stuffy nose, put a dab of petroleum jelly on the bridge of their nose, and it will loosen the stuffiness and your child will be able to breathe again. Make sure you have kleenex handy as the nose will start to run almost immediately. Be sure to keep it away from child's eyes. This works for adults too.
