Long Hair - Tangles to fly-aways
Tangles to fly aways, this tip is a keeper! Having a little one with long hair I know the concern of keeping her hair healthy. Spritzing some spray conditioner on the comb or brush before combing her hair makes for an easy task as well as leaving it smooth and shiny and less likely to have fly aways later. Spraying the brush or comb is better than applying it directly to the hair, which can leave too much of a filmy texture.

Magic Water
I put hydrogen peroxide in an inexpensive spray bottle and spray it on my son's cut's and scaps. Somehow I get less of a fuss from him that way. I tell him it's magic water to clean his cuts and it works wonders.

Make your own juice boxes
Take sports drink bottles (the ones with straws attached to them) and label with the kids' names. Keep them in the frig so they can go and grab their drinks - without pouring and making a mess. Keep several for each child with different drinks/water.

Medication
When your child needs to take medication several times a day, try this. Each morning set out the required number of medicine cups or medicine spoons. When they are gone at the end of the day you'll know that you didn't miss a dose.

Medicine Taking Tip
If your baby is like my 10 month old, he gives you a bit of a fit when taking medicine and continuously tries to swat the dropper out of your hand, getting the medicine everywhere but in his mouth!
I lay my son in-between my legs (his feet towards my feet) gently pinning his arms under my thighs. I then am able to drip the medicine in his mouth without a fight.
Works like a charm everytime!

Medicines
I have 2 kids that both need different amounts of the same medicine. Instead of re-reading the container everytime they have a cold, I wrote in sharpie on the bottle exactly how much they need along w/ their names! Now when they are sick, i don't have to read the tiny print. Especially works if you have an infant!

Middle of the night ear ache
My daughter had an ear ache one night and she was up screaming in the middle of the night so I called my Dr. He told me to drop a few drops of Baby Ambesol in her ear and that would numb it until she could be seen in the morning. It worked!! (Could also use Orajel)

Mini Ice Packs
Save the ketchup packets from fast food places and place in the freezer. They make the perfect size for the little boo-boos that kids get, like for fingers, lips, places where it's uncomfortable for a large ice pack. Just place in an orphaned child's sock and it's ready to use.

Mmm-medicine
If your infant/child hates to take his medicine here is a tip that has worked wonders for us. Take a freezer pop,
"Mr. Freeze" cut in half and let your little one eat/suck some of it out. This will help freeze some of the taste buds. Then add the medicine inside the freezer pop (may need to add half a dose at a time) then let your little one have the rest or a little more until you add the rest of the medicine. There are fruit-juice pops available in stores if you don't want all the added sugar. Depending on how old the baby is you may want to cut in half or less, to guarantee that all will be consumed.

Mommy Tips Alert
The tip given previously about getting children to take medicine easily (by crumbling it and placing it in your child's favorite pudding) can be dangerous and lead to an overdose. Please ask your pharmacist or doctor before doing this. Some medications are meant to be released slowly (over eight, twelve, or twenty-four hours) in the childs gastrointestinal tract. If some medications are crumbled and given to the child, he or she receives the entire dose immediatley (instead of over a period of time), possibly resulting in an overdose.

Moms: here's your chance to exercise!
Moms have to grab time when they can. I've found the easiest way to walk on my treadmill is to do it while my 20 month old son is watching Barney or Elmo. He's interested in the show, and I get a free 15-20 mintues to walk. I can see him from the treadmill, so he's safe and entertained...and I'm getting fit again! :]

Mosquito Bites
Before you or your child scratches that mosquito bite, dab it with a cotton ball and some "Bonne Bell 10-0-6" astringent. I've never found anything else that works this well! It takes away the swelling, the redness and the itch.

My son had colic very bad when he was very small. Rather then spend an outrageous amount on baby stomach relief medicines I used distilled water and disolved a fruit flavored tums in an 8 ounce baby bottle of water and it worked to relieve his discomfort so much better than anything else I tried.
