  • A Great Way To Locate A Lost Toddler Younger toddlers often don't know to respond when their name is called. If your toddler wonders off, instead of just calling their name, ask them to respond to a question also such as "what does the cow say?". You'll be able to locate the little one by following the mooooooo. Submitted By: Nancy Pudlo(Added: 11-Oct-2001 Hits: 0 Rating: 2.00 Votes: 2) Rate It

  • Apartment Safety Walk the building with your parent and check out safe places and places that could be dangerous. Make sure your parent knows where you like to play. Stay away from lonely places like stairwells and storage rooms. Stand by the control panel in an elevator. If someone gets on who you don't like, press lots of buttons and get off at the next floor. If you feel scared, knock and scream at the closest apartment door. Submitted By: Sarah(Added: 29-Apr-2001 Hits: 0 Rating: 0 Votes: 0) Rate It

  • babies can swim Minimize your anxiety around water by teaching your baby to 'swim.' Babies love it and they gain some critical survival skills along with increased self-confidence, stronger lung capacity and great muscle development. They learn to hold their breath under water, swim to the surface, hold on to the nearest thing on the surface, turn over and float on their back. Infants can learn all of these skills which dramatically increase their chances of survival in the event of an accident. And its a great bonding experience for parent and baby! Call you local YMCA for classes or look for the Water Babies books. NOTE FROM MOMMYTIPS: The AAP recommends against swimming lessons for young children. Check the facts and make your own decision. • Baby Bed Take along your baby's playpen. It can serve as a bed or a supervised play area. You can also put a sheet over the top for a shade. It is a safe way to take your baby along with you during swimming this summer! Submitted By: annalyn flores(Added: 18-Jul-2002 Hits: 0 Rating: 0 Votes: 0) Rate It

  • Baby Safe Mopping I've got a handy way of mopping without the mop bucket, much safer for babies. Use the kitchen sink. Just fill up your sink half way with hot water & cleaner. I start at the farthest corner & work my way over to the sink. My kitchen is quite small, so I only have to make a few trips to clean my sponge mop. When finished, just clean out your sink. • Betty crocker 4 slice toasters After owning this toaster for 3.5 to 4 yrs it was moved to our new home. Before this our toaster worked fine, after the move and maybe being a little cold for a few hours it has malfunctioned. When I brought it in and reused it..it appeared to work fine. A little while later I could smell something off and mentioned it to my husband he thought it was the furnace kicking in. Well about an hour later we realized it was the toaster it was turned off but the element on the left side was still on. Our cupboard above was VERY hot. We were planning on going out for the day...I'm glad we didn't! I am in the process of trying to get a hold of Betty Crocker to report this. Just wanted to give a heads up to everyone. • criminology tip It is a good idea to keep a disposible camera in your car in case you have a wreck and the other person in negligent. You can take pictures of the damages and submit them in court if it should go that far. Also it is good if you see someone commiting a crime against another person you could just take a picture of the license plate number instead of trying to remember it in your head. ....and even if you never have to use it for those reasons you NEVER KNOW when your kids are gonna make those cute little faces that you JUST NEED a camera for:D Submitted By: scarleyntaybug(Added: 3-Nov-2002 Hits: 0 Rating: 9.00 Votes: 1) Rate It

  • Crowds When we go to crowded places, like amusement parks or the beach, we all wear plastic whistles. If we lose track of one of our group we each let out a whistle so we can locate eachother. One toot for my youngest, two toots for my middle child, three toots for my oldest child and four quick toots for me and my husband. • Dangerous baby oil!!!!! a word of caution when using baby oil. it should be treated as a chemical or a medication and should be kept out of reach of babies and toddlers...if a child gets ahold of it and inhales it it will/can coat their lungs and slowly suffocate there really isn't much a doctor can do to remove it because it is an oil...so PLEASE be very careful. some compaies have safety caps on them but most don't . • Dish Cloth Over the Door When my children were younger, I would drape a dish rag over the top hinge of the door so that the door would not close completely. I would not have to worry about them closing their fingers in the door, or locking themselves in the room. Submitted By: Jackie Villano(Added: 16-Feb-2001 Hits: 0 Rating: 5.00 Votes: 2) Rate It

  • Door Knobs We had to remove all levers for doors and change them to round knobs then we bought knob covers at Walmart so you have to squeeze the knob buttons to open the doors. We know of a toddler that crawled out of the house and burned their legs and hands on the pavement and rocks--Arizona sun is not pretty in the summer. • Double Lock Lately there have been cases of toddlers opening the door and getting outside when Mom isn't aware and freezing or getting lost. Put a bell on all outside doors, and for the night, an extra lock high up on the door will ensure your toddler can't wander out.
