Easy & Time Saving Spring Cleaning Tips

By Janice Copeland, Success Coach for Women
Spring is here-how exciting! A fresh season filled with warm air, the smell of fresh flowers and yes, time for spring cleaning. This month we will focus on spring cleaning our homes and lives to bring about order and the results we are looking for!
>>Home
Choose which room to focus on. (Remember, Rome was not built in a day and you won't be able to clean your home completely in one day either!)
>>Life
Choose which area of your life to focus on. (Decide which area of your life you would like to "clean" and enjoy more. It might be your family life, work life, or self time )
>>Home
Review the items found in that room and define what will be discarded. (rule of thumb is to toss any item that has not been used in the last 7-12 months)
>>Life
Decide what you would like to change in this area of your life (include what you would like to get rid of AND what you would like to add)
>>Home
Determine how to organize the remaining items to ensure ease of getting to each item when necessary, in addition to the organization being aesthetically pleasing.
>>Life
Determine how to make the above changes. For example, if the goal is to lower the number of hours spent at the office, figure out how to do that. (i.e. enroll in a time management course so that work can be done more efficiently and/OR block off time during the day and spend that time accomplishing the most important tasks that will bring about success.)
>>Home
Clean each item AND the room that will house the items. Leave no sofa unturned or corner untouched. Dust, vacuum and clean everywhere!
>>Life
Clean out the "clutter" that steals the enjoyment in this area of your life. This means to be proactive in CREATING this part of your life the way you want it to be. (i.e. If you want to get a promotion or move to another department within your company, ask someone in that role or department to lunch and ask questions, network and learn the needed skills. Enroll in a class or read a book that will teach you the skills you need.)
>>Home
Admire your beautifully cleaned and organized room and commit to doing the daily work necessary to keep it this way!
>>Life
Appreciate the work you have done cleaning this area of your life and stay focused, determined and committed to these improvements on a daily basis!
>>Home
When you are ready, choose another room and take it through the above process.
>>Life
When you feel ready, move to another area of your life and begin "spring cleaning" it as outlined above.
Is this a lot of work? You bet! But, this is your life and your home we are discussing-what could be more important?! You have the right and power to make each as you want! The key is daily focus and determination. You want to come home each day to a clean house? You must do the daily picking up. You want to land that promotion? You must do something each day to position yourself for that spot! I sincerely hope that you enjoy this new season and the necessary cleaning that comes along with it!
